Our Beginning
Altiun was originally conceived by civil engineers at Water Resources Management Associates, Inc. (WRMA, wrmaeng.com), as an idea to enhance project workflows by leveraging the utility of drones.
Remote sensing via satellites and aircraft has long been an integral tool in civil engineering. Modern drones, however, have transformed what is possible — providing unprecedented flexibility and access to significantly higher-fidelity aerial data.
Early applications of drone technology on real-world projects at WRMA demonstrated its ability to provide valuable insights throughout the engineering and design process. What's more, WRMA's clients recognized a demand for such insights at scale.
From those beginnings, an idea grew into a full-service aerial data enterprise. Working in tandem with WRMA, Altiun combines cutting-edge aerial technology with engineering experience to produce accurate, actionable information that supports better decision-making across a variety of industries.

A Trusted Approach
Altiun aerial drone services integrate best practices which emphasize safety and accuracy.
Safety begins with competence. Altiun drone pilots carry an FAA Part 107 – Remote Pilot Certificate, as well as the OSHA 10 certification for operations on active construction sites. Before deployment, Altiun pilots are trained in detailed mission planning to identify site & airspace hazards and comply with current FAA regulations, and other applicable legal restrictions pertaining to the responsible flight of drones. Standardized checklists and emergency procedures further ensure that Altiun staff conduct missions in a safe and professional manner.
Accuracy comes with understanding the underlaying principles in the technology at play, including the sources of error in geomatics, drone photography, and the application of photogrammetry and LiDAR. By integrating time-test procedures learned from the field of engineering with the capabilities of modern technologies, such as Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GNSS receivers, Altiun is able to consistently produce highly accurate deliverables.
